In less than half the duration of an incense stick, Qin Nan and Ji Jinzi crossed a huge mountain and entered the Land of Distress.
Qin Nan’s eyes widened as soon as he set foot into it.
Everything in front of him was pitch-black. An unfamiliar and terrifying aura was surging wildly out of nowhere. Red lights were flickering everywhere as if terrifying existences were standing there coldly.
Fear and uneasiness grew in their hearts as if two mundane humans had trespassed into the territory of a deity. They were as tiny as dust particles and would be smashed into pieces with the slightest touch.
Whoosh!
The thickness of the seven-colored light encapsulated them doubled. It was burning vigorously and lighting up the surroundings. Qin Nan was able to see dark red limbs and mysterious beasts crawling in the area.
The two exchanged glances before continuing on their way, like two ants entering a great storm.
The other half of the Soul Accumulating Book was only around ten thousand li away from them. It was not too far away, but it still took them over an hour to reach it. The deadly traps along their way were several times deadlier than the ones they had encountered previously.
Some mysterious existences were staring at them coldly, but they did not attack them.
“The Soul Accumulating Book!”
Ji Jinzi’s heart raced. She immediately picked up her pace.
Around three zhang away from her stood an ancient monument full of motley markings. Under it lied a scroll brimming with Soul Energy.
“Hold on!”
Qin Nan immediately stopped her and said, “There’s something strange about the monument.”
Ji Jinzi calmed down and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I was being too careless.”
Qin Nan told her it was fine. He used the Immortal Eyes of the Divine God of Battle to observe the monument, but he did not detect anything strange. He transmitted his thoughts to Zhou Xundao and Jiaye.
“Kid, how are you done so fast?” Zhou Xundao was shocked.
“My master, are you…” Jiaye was stunned too.
Normally, the greater one’s cultivation, the better they were at certain things.
Qin Nan was already a Ruler of Dao which was currently the peak of the Nine Heavens Immortal Realm. He should be able to last for a few hours even if he was not great at it.
“What were you two thinking? We didn’t do it!” Qin Nan’s face darkened.
“Qin Nan, it’s not like I have a say in it, but how could you miss out on such a great opportunity? Besides, Empress Feiyue and you have affection toward one another. It’s fine if she’s using her body,” Zhou Xundao grumbled.
“Yes, my master, Ji Jinzi is Cang’s daughter. If she fell in love with you and did it with you, I bet Cang would be vomiting blood even if he doesn’t really care about his daughter,” Jiaye said.
Qin Nan’s lips twisted.
He only realized these two were not as honorable as they seemed on the surface.
“That’s enough, do you two know this monument?” Qin Nan quickly switched the topic.
“Huh? It does look a little familiar,” Zhou Xundao and Jiaye were immediately distracted.
“I remember it now. This monument was the natal artifact of a Heaven Highness in the past. It’s called the Soul Splitting Immortal Monument which specializes in suppressing souls,” Zhou Xundao said.
“My master, it isn’t difficult to break it,” Jiaye flicked his finger and inserted countless words into Qin Nan’s mind.
“Give me some time,” Qin Nan told Ji Jinzi before focusing on comprehending the art. A few moments later, his eyes sprang open as he performed hand seals to fire light rays into the boulder.
Buzz!
The Soul Splitting Immortal Monument did not react to the light rays, but the Land of Distress started shaking a little. The red lights in the surroundings grew slightly too. The terrifying existences rose to their feet and started pacing up and down.
They had fixed their gazes and attention on Qin Nan.
The atmosphere gradually intensified as if it was on the verge of an explosion.
Ji Jinzi took out a sword and looked around her coldly while Qin Nan focused on his task.
It lasted for half the duration of an incense stick. The Soul Splitting Immortal Monument shuddered and moved ten zhang back. It was no longer suppressing the Soul Accumulating Book.
Qin Nan let out a relieved sigh and said, “Jinzi, we won’t be able to fix the Soul Accumulating Book here. We have to leave first…”
He reached out his hand to grab the Soul Accumulating Book, but the moment he touched it, the atmosphere changed as if a string had just snapped after reaching its limit.
The Land of Distress began to shake vigorously!
Strong auras exploded continuously and surged across the place as various lights emerged to light up the darkness like it was the day.
Qin Nan and Ji Jinzi’s expressions shifted.
Even Zhou Xundao and Jiaye opened their eyes wide.
The auras were simply too terrifying. Even a single one of them could crush them into pieces, let alone several hundreds of them!
BANG!
The Heavens and Earth fell into chaos as if a world had collided with the Land of Distress. The rift cracked and sucked every light into it.
An enormous hand which looked like it was made of blood reached out from the crack and gabbed at Qin Nan and Ji Jinzi.
Qin Nan’s scalp turned numb. He felt like the hand was going to destroy everything.
“Humph, Heaven-Slaughter Halberd, how bold of you? Couldn’t you tell he’s with me?” Wu Di’s voice exploded. The Nine Dragons Seal flew out of Qin Nan’s soul and released a tremendous glow.
Cries of dragons echoed in the surroundings.
The enormous hand instantly crumbled into pieces.
The faint shadow of a huge halberd appeared from the chaos, but it did not stop attacking. It summoned five other enormous hands to grab at Qin Nan.
Meanwhile, following a loud chime, a blue sun slowly rose in the distance followed by the faint outline of a giant pagoda.
“The Hongmeng Pagoda?”
Wu Di was stunned.
