After appearing on the third floor, the handsome young man approached Yuan with a calm smile, "Hello. I hope you didn't wait too long."
Yuan quickly stood up and said, "No, I didn't."
The young man then introduced himself, "I am Long Yejun, and I will be your interviewer. Before we begin, can you tell me about yourself?"
"I'm Yuan, and I traveled here from the other side of the Primal Expanse. I grew up in a small territory with two Azure Dragons, who I consider my parents. Unfortunately, I don't know my real parents."
"I see…" Long Yejun mumbled with a ponderous face.
Sometime later, he looked at Yuan with a serious expression and said, "To be honest, based on the assessment from the second floor, we believe you may have a connection to the Dragon God."
"What?" Yuan's eyes widened with surprise after hearing this unexpected news.
"When you say Dragon God, do you mean the master of the Divine Dragon Sanctuary—that Dragon God?"
Long Yejun nodded, "Indeed."
Yuan wore a dazed look on his face as he pondered how such a thing was possible inwardly.
'I may be related to the Dragon God? That's ridiculous. I don't recall ever meeting him even as Tian Yi, so how is it possible that we're related?'
Long Yejun stared intently at Yuan's face, carefully analyzing every detail as if searching for something hidden beneath the surface.
'He's genuinely surprised by the information. Maybe he really has no idea that he has the Dragon God's blood within him, and it was pure coincidence that he came to the Divine Dragon Sanctuary…' he wondered inwardly.
After a brief moment of silence, Yuan's expression shifted, as though a sudden realization had dawned on him.
'The Blood Cleansing Ceremony!'
He gained the ability to transform after the Blood Cleansing Ceremony at the Ancient Dragon City, and the Xi Family claimed they were unaware of the origin of the blood he absorbed. However, the system had confirmed that the blood belonged to the Dragon God.
"That expression… did you remember something?" Long Yejun inquired with a slight smile on his face.
Before Yuan could respond, he continued, "Anyway, I am not here to question your bloodline. We can do that after the assessment."
"For this assessment, I will be evaluating your combat prowess. The most effective way to do that is through a sparring match with you."
Long Yejun suddenly suppressed his cultivation to Perfect Chaotic Master, matching Yuan's cultivation.
"You will pass this assessment if you can injure me even slightly," he said afterward.
"Are you sure?" Yuan asked. "Yes. And take as much time as you need to prepare."
"..."
Yuan didn't say anything else and became silent.
'How should I go about this?' he wondered inwardly.
He could easily injure this confident interviewer with Number One Under Heaven, but he was pretending to be a dragon, and very few beings in the Primal Expanse used weapons. Moreover, he wanted to test out something.
Sometime later, Yuan said, "Alright, I am ready."
Long Yejun beckoned with a provocative gesture, saying, "Show me what you've got."
In the next instant, Yuan sprang from the ground, hurtling toward Long Yejun with incredible speed.
[Relentless Dragon Overwhelms the Nine Heavens!]
As Yuan activated his fist technique, he channeled his Chaotic Essence into it, amplifying its power several times over.
Long Yejun's eyes widened as Yuan's aura suddenly erupted with overwhelming force. Instinctively, he leaped back, attempting to dodge the oncoming strike.
However, Yuan suddenly activated Dragon's Gaze, catching Long Yejun completely off guard. The technique paralyzed him for a split second, leaving him vulnerable.
"F—"
Long Yejun couldn't even utter a word before Yuan's fist, engulfed in a black aura that resembled flames, slammed into his gut, launching him across the room. His body crashed into the wall with such force that the entire building trembled. If not for the defensive formations reinforcing the structure, his impact would have shattered through the wall entirely.
Despite the brutal blow, Long Yejun somehow managed to land on his feet, his expression grim but composed as he steadied himself.
He took a deep breath, then forcefully blew his nose, expelling a fair amount of blood.
Long Yejun stared at his own blood on the ground, then chuckled with excitement. "When was the last time I saw my own blood...? Hahaha!" he laughed, a wild glint in his eyes.
"Does this mean I pass the assessment?" Yuan asked.
Long Yejun stopped laughing to look at him with a solemn gaze.
"No," he responded.
"But you—"
"That wasn't enough to injure me."
Yuan didn't say anything and merely looked at the blood on the floor.
"Ahem!" Long Yejun awkwardly cleared his throat and explained, "I was training before I came here, and that blood was accumulated then."
Yuan shook his head inwardly and responded with a bittersweet smile, "I understand. Let's continue, then."
A satisfied smile appeared on Long Yejun's face as he settled into a combative stance, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
After a brief moment of stillness, Long Yejun made the first move, using a movement technique to instantly get in front of Yuan.
Yuan reacted swiftly, but as he raised his arms to defend, Long Yejun's eyes gleamed with a golden light.
'Dragon's Gaze?!'
Yuan was caught off guard by Long Yejun's Dragon's Gaze and became momentarily stunned.
"Payback time!" Long Yejun laughed as he drove his fist into Yuan's stomach, precisely where he had been struck moments earlier.
Yuan was instantly sent flying, crashing into the wall with even greater force than when he had struck Long Yejun. The impact reverberated through the room, shaking the entire building.
Yet, it was Long Yejun who bore the brunt of the damage from the exchange. His hand was bruised and slightly bleeding, while Yuan emerged seemingly unscathed. "Fuck! What is your body made of?!" Long Yejun cried out, shaking his hand in an attempt to dispel the pain, disbelief written across his face.
